The 71st International Congress of Aviation and Space Medicine will be held in Singapore.

Four new Academicians were inducted into the Academy at the General Assembly in Chicago on 7 May 2024, Dr Dragana Dragic-Ranisavljevic (Serbia), Dr Susan Fondy (USA), Dr Nageshwar Rao Komarraju (India) and Dr Shachar Shapira (Israel). A warm welcome is extended to them all.

New Academicians, Prof Dr Franz Hauer, Dr Duncan Hughes and Dr Frederic Villard were inducted into the Academy in Abu Dhabi at ICASM23, and Dr Surendra Sodhi was welcomed back. Prof Erik Hohmann, who did so much to enable the Congress to take place in the Middle East for the first time, was made an Honorary Academician.
We were delighted to welcome 4 new members into the Academy at the General Assembly in New Orleans on 23 May 2023: Dr Samir Alvi (UK), Prof Dr Vania Melhado (Brazil), Dr Richard Folga (USA) and Dr Daniel Shoor (USA).
EASA will be commissioning research on the colour output of displays used in aviation, both cockpit displays and ATCO consoles, shortly, with the aim of subsequently identifying suitable colour vision testing methods and thresholds for pilots and ATCOs. Radistrya was awarded an IAASM scholarship in 2018 and has been undertaking a Residency Programme in Aerospace Medicine in Indonesia for the past 3 years. She has recently graduated as a Specialist in Aerospace Medicine and is keen to further develop aerospace medical practice in Indonesia.
She has been offered and has accepted a position on the staff in the Residency Programme at the University.

Dr James Vanderploeg handed over the Presidency of the Academy to Prof David Gradwell at the Academicians' Dinner at ICAM22. Prof Gradwell thanked Dr Vanderploeg for taking the Academy through a turbulent time during Covid, for his extended 3 year tenure and for the huge amount of time and effort he had devoted to duties as the Academy's webmaster.
The International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine (IAASM) developed an Outreach Programme in 2019 for schools with demonstrated academic excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects. Eligible schools are those that are local to the site of the annual International Congress of Aviation and Space Medicine.
The 1st International Conference of Aerospace Medicine was held in the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, France as a joint enterprise between IAASM, the Aerospace Medical Association, the European Society of Aerospace Medicine and the French Aerospace Medicine Society SOFRAMAS from 22-24 September 2022.
EASA has announced a PhD scheme to develop partnerships with European Universities and academia, to share and disseminate knowledge in innovative, emerging fields relevant to aviation. There are four initial domains: Artificial Intelligence in Aviation, Impact of Climate Change on Air Transport, Environmental Sustainability of Air Transport and New Approaches and Methods for Safety Risk Management in Aviation.
